In honor of Hunger Action Month and National Cheeseburger Day on September 18th, BurgerFi has teamed up with Feeding South Florida to host The Chow Down for Charity Championship to help “End Hunger One Bite at a Time”. The event will raise money and awareness for the more than 706,000 children and adults in South Florida who don’t know when they will get their next meal.
Who better to help take the biggest bite out of hunger than Takeru Kobayashi, renown competitive eater and Guinness World Record Holder? Beginning at 11 a.m. guests can cheer on Kobayashi, as he competes against current and former professional athletes in a fun cheeseburger eating contest. The athletes will take on 6 Single BurgerFi Cheeseburgers with Kraft-Heinz signature Mayochup, while the champ takes on 18 Single BurgerFi Cheeseburgers with 5 minutes on the clock. BURGERFI will donate $100 for every cheeseburger eaten– up to $5,000.
Guests will also have a chance to make a difference in their local community. Beginning September 1, all South Florida BURGERFI locations will have donation boxes on display at each counter during the month of September where guests will be encouraged to contribute additional dollars with 100% of proceeds going back to Feeding South Florida. Additionally, on September 18, BurgerFi will be auctioning off the chance to try a secret, never-before-seen burger during the event with all proceeds benefitting the charity as well.
