OPEN PIT Original Restaurant Recipe Barbecue Sauce 9 lb. 1 bottle
HEINZ Apple Cider Vinegar 1 qt.
dry mustard 3/4 oz. 3/4 cup
crushed red pepper 1 Tbsp.
OPEN PIT Original Restaurant Recipe Barbecue Sauce 1 lb. 2-1/4 cups
HEINZ Apple Cider Vinegar 2/3 cup
dry mustard 2 Tbsp.
crushed red pepper 1/2 tsp.


Mix all ingredients in non-reactive saucepan; bring to boil on medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator until ready to use.

Sauce can be used as a basting sauce for slow-cooked meat, or as a dipping sauce or table condiment.
Serving Suggestion
For pulled pork sandwiches, add 1 qt. prepared sauce to 3 lb. shredded cooked pork in shallow half hotel pan; cover. Bake in 350°F-standard oven for 1 hour. Transfer to steam table. Add 1 cup water or broth if mixture becomes too thick. Makes 24 servings, 1 sandwich each.
